Who is Greg #

Grzegorz Botwina holds a PhD in Management from the University of Warsaw, Poland, where he serves as the Director of Polish Olympic Studies and Research Centre. He specializes in the subject of good governance and social responsibility in sport organizations, with experience in the business, government and NGO sectors.

Grzegorz also holds an assistant professorship at the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw, and is president of the Institute for Sport Governance. His research is focused on good governance of sport federations, social responsibility of professional sport clubs and dual career of athletes. He led many projects in the field of sport in Poland and internationally, including Sport Management Academy as state funded executive education program for managers of sport federations in Poland, Dual Career for Junior Athletes, and Erasmus Projects such as Digital innovation in cycling using gaming as a tool for enhancing sport participation (DigiCycle). Through the course of these projects, Greg aims to develop a common framework in good governance for EU countries.

Greg currently is President of the Institute for Sport Governance. He also serves as Vice President of the European Network for Innovation and Knowledge. Greg is currently also Board member and former President of the Polish Cycling Federation.

Why the interest in virtual sports? #

For several years, Greg has been heavily involved in activities related to Virtual Sports. During this time, he has established valuable collaborations with World Sailing, World Rowing, European Cycling Union, and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), focusing on using Virtual Sports to promote sport participation and fan engagement such as the DigiCycle project.
